Standing out online

Standing out online

With more and more businesses turning to online marketing avenues, businesses need to have a strong strategy for standing out amongst the crowd.

Here are three tactics to help your business stand out online:

Showcase personality
Your website, email marketing campaigns and social media are all an extension of your business’ brand. Use online marketing in the same sense as traditional marketing such as radio and TV advertisements. Inject your business’ culture and values into your online marketing strategy to show customers what you are all about. This may mean live-streaming your staff and daily business operations to your social media accounts, using humour, sharing interesting posts or articles from other credible sites, or blogging.

Use storytelling
Stories capture attention, and, in the online world, attention can be difficult to gain. Share the story of your business’ beginnings on your website and social media pages. Beyond that, share personal anecdotes (that are relatable to your audience) and sell your products and services by utilising storytelling. Many big companies are embracing the power of storytelling to connect with their customers on a more personal level, so don’t be afraid to follow their lead.

Engage with your audience
Customers don’t want to simply consume information and marketing material; they want to engage with businesses that can provide them with real benefits. This is why it is more important than ever to communicate with customers through your business’ online presence. Respond to all feedback on your social pages, start conversations or polls to gather more information on your target market’s wants and needs, write blog posts to frequently asked questions and re-share customer posts where appropriate.
